This year's Big Scream Festival was our favourite yet! Check out all the spooktacular highlights below.

Official Launch of Big Scream Festival, with MaSamba Drummers and Samba Dancing

The Big Scream 2024 kicked off with a bang!

The MaSamba Flashmob took Connolly Station by storm, filling the morning with rhythm, energy and laughter before making their way to Diamond Park with plenty of local students joining in on the fun along the way.

Celebrate and Stay Safe - Animal Welfare, Gardaí, and Fire Service visits

We had a fantastic visit to St. Vincent’s Girls School where students learned important tips for staying safe this Halloween! Talks from District Officer Martin Carr (Fire Service), Garda Derek Gibney, and Jade Dempsey (Animal Welfare, DCC) covered fire prevention, harm reduction, and animal safety during the spooky season.

Deadly Halloween Parties

A fang-tastic time was had by all at the Deadly Halloween Party for senior citizens!

With lots on offer from spooky karaoke to wickedly good treats, everyone showed up and danced through the afternoon! Thank you to everyone who joined us for a frightfully fabulous time.

Scary Synchronised Swim Performance

We were treated to a thrilling synchronised swimming performance at Seán McDermott Street Swimming Pool! Our local swimmers gave it their all with a fun and creative routine that had everyone cheering.

Library Events with Una Woods, Tarsila Krüse and Juliette Saumande

We loved seeing so many happy little faces enjoying the Library Events that took place in Charleville Mall Library throughout the week!

These Children's Book Festival workshops were on offer for children with additional needs and students from NEIC primary schools!

Doggy Dress Up Parade

The Doggy Dress Up Parade was positively pawsome!

It was wonderful to see so many pets dressed in their Halloween best at Diamond Park! A special thank you to Animal Welfare who were in attendance to share all the best tips on keeping our dogs safe this Halloween.

Halloween HIIT Tasters

DCC Senior Sports & Development Officer Peter put Larkin Community Collage students to the test during their Halloween HIIT Taster classes!

These spooktacular High Intensity Interval Training taster sessions were on offer in NEIC Secondary Schools as part of the Big Scream programme!

Spooky History Walk with Five Lamps Arts

The Witchat Family Walking Tour was a spooktacular success!

As part of the Big Scream Festival, Five Lamps Arts hosted a spooky walking tour that took participants through the mysterious history of Mud Island Community Garden. Guided by three mischievous witches: The Historian, The Troublemaker, and The Mystic who introduced the eerie forgotten past!

Samhain and Bob the Apple Workshop

The spooky Samhain and Bob the Apple Workshop took place in Belvedere Youth Club as part of the Big Scream Festival!

Attendees delved into the fascinating history of Halloween with historian Dervilia Roche and participated in some festive games such as apple bobbing.

Movie Screenings

The spooky screening at Savoy Cinema was full of frightful fun! There was plenty of terrific thrills on offer from surprise films to prizes for best costume!

St. Agatha’s Haunted Hall of Horrors

St. Agatha’s Haunted Hall of Horrors was a seriously spooky success!

The hall was transformed into an eerie experience. We love these photos capturing those who dared to visit and face the fright!

Halloween Fun Food Cookery Demonstrations

Brewing up something wickedly delicious!

The Halloween Fun Food Cookery Demonstrations brought us cauldron-side for a taste that was to die for! Special thank you to Portland Café for hosting us.

Opera: Hansel and Gretel

Seán McDermott Street Church was transformed for two mesmerising renditions of Hansel and Gretel Opera during the week! It was incredible to see the church so full of people enjoying the music and transfixing performances!

Grave Robbers Talk

It was wonderful to see so many from our community in attendance for the Grave Robbers Talk held in Charleville Mall Library as part of the Big Scream Festival!
